About the Journal

Focus and Scope

ASEAN Engineering Journal (AEJ) is an official publication of the JICA Project for AUN/SEED-Net as a fruit of collaboration with the main support from the Government of Japan through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Member Governments from ten ASEAN countries and twenty-six Member Institutions selected from leading institutions in engineering field with support from fourteen leading Japanese Universities.
The Journal publishes peer-reviewed full academic papers in engineering. A double blind peer review system is adopted to ensure the transparency and integrity of the review process.
The Journal aims to be a platform where scholars, researchers, students, academicians and educators in the following fields of engineering, i.e. civil engineering, chemical engineering, electrical & electronics engineering, environmental engineering, geological & geo-resource engineering, computer & information engineering, mechanical & manufacturing engineering, materials engineering, energy engineering and natural disaster, can exchange their research data and advancement in order to advance the knowledge and expertise for professional development as well as to create a network of professionals for future collaboration.
The Journal is owned and published by JICA Project for AUN/SEED-Net under the direction of its Board Members. This includes its goodwill and trademark as well as the copyright of all articles published by the Journal.

ASEAN Engineering Journal publishes manuscripts in engineering as follows:

Civil Engineering

Chemical Engineering

Electrical and Electronics Engineering

Environmental Engineering

Geological and Geo-Resource Engineering

Computer and Information Engineering

Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering

Materials Engineering

Energy Engineering

Natural Disaster

Review Process

To ensure the highest quality of published materials, a group of experts are assigned by the Section Editor-in-Chief of each field of engineering to review the submitted manuscripts. Upon the acknowledgement of the receipt of the manuscript by the authors, the manuscript will initially be reviewed by AEJ Editorial Team before sending to at least 2-3 independent reviewers. Final decision will be made by Section Editor-in-Chief of each field. The review process normally takes approximately 3-6 months.

Publication Period

1     The January - June issue is published in June

2     The July - December issue is published in December

ASEAN Engineering Journal offers online publications two times a year on first come, first served basis. However, the Journal is open for submission all year round, welcoming all researchers in the ASEAN region, including young staff and graduate students. The journal publishes full academic papers in engineering fields and their sub-disciplines. The copyright of each paper once published will be transferred to AUN/SEED-Net.

Open Access Policy

ASEAN Engineering Journal aims to maximize the dissemination of innovative knowledge and distribution of research publications to contribute to the scientific community as well as the public benefits. Hence, the journal supports unrestricted access to its publications and provides free online access to all students, scholars, researchers and educators. The full articles are allowed to be downloaded and use without charges for personal use, academic purposes and public non-commercial purposes.

For commercial purposes, the re-use of an article in part or in full including figures, illustrations, charts, photographs, text excerpts or any copyrighted materials must be obtained in prior written agreement from AUN/SEED-Net. A disclaimer of sponsorship, affiliation or endorsement by AUN/SEED-Net must be included on the publication and on related printed materials.

History of ASEAN Engineering Journal

First launched in 2011, the Journal is intended to be an international platform for scholars, researchers, and students from ASEAN countries to publish the new and innovative knowledge from academic research outcomes in the region and to improve research quality through review process as well as to develop strong academic society and network.

The Journal covers ten major engineering fields and are divided into three parts with its own ISSN as follows:

ASEAN Engineering Journal Part A, ISSN 2229-127X: Computer & Information Engineering (CIE), Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE), Energy Engineering (EneE) and Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering (ME/ManuE)
ASEAN Engineering Journal Part B, ISSN 2286-7694: Chemical Engineering (ChE) and Materials Engineering (MatE)
ASEAN Engineering Journal Part C, ISSN 2286-8151: Civil Engineering (CE), Environmental Engineering (EnvE), Geological & Geo-Resource Engineering (GeoE) and Natural Disater (ND).

Both online and printed versions were first released. Initially, two issues of each division were published yearly in June and December. The electronic format was published throughout the year on first come, first served basis.

The Journal was open for submission all year round welcoming all researchers in the ASEAN region, including young staff and graduate students. Three types of manuscripts, i.e. full papers, notes, and technical reports were initially published. Reviews were also irregularly published at the request of AUN/SEED-Net to the specified authors.

From 2017 onwards, the Journal will no longer be divided into Part A, Part B and Part C. It will only publish electronic full papers under the name ‘ASEAN Engineering Journal’ with a new e-ISSN 2586-9159.
